Master thesis or internship position in B cell Immunology
B-cell responses are essential for humoral immunity against pathogens because they lead to the generation of antibody-secreting cells that produce large amounts of antigen-specific antibodies. These cells also have the potential to become quiescent and long-lived, which is fundamental for immunological memory against pathogens. B-cell responses are also key mediators of diseases, such as allergies, antibody-mediated autoimmunity, and tumor malignancies.
Our Group at the Institute of Allergy Research/ZAUM at Helmholtz Munich focuses on studying the processes of B lymphocyte activation and differentiation into effector B cells, such as antibody-secreting cells and memory B cells. We are seeking a highly motivated Master’s student to join our research team for a thesis project or internship.
The lab previously established an in vivo model system for pooled single-guide RNA (sgRNA) CRISPR/Cas9 screening, identifying several novel regulators of B cell-mediated responses. The student’s project will explore the function and underlying molecular mechanisms of some of these newly identified regulators using novel experimental approaches along with in vitro and in vivo mouse models.
Student Profile
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications
• Practical scientific experience and a strong theoretical background in fields such as immunology, genetics, epigenetics, molecular biology or biochemistry.
• An interest in research using mice as animal models.
• A high degree of scientific curiosity, creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary and international team.
